Relationships

Relationships are a big part of our every day. Our lives are built on them. Relationships may be defined in different ways depending on who’s involved. Whether they are friendships,  romantic partners, family or co workers, we are all involved in relationships. We find ourselves surrounded by them daily. It is very important to have a healthy foundation in all relationships you find yourself in. Healthy relationships all depend on a few key elements:  healthy communication, healthy boundaries, mutual respect, and support  for one another. It is important to know what "makes someone tick" as I always say. This is where you get familiar with what the other person is all about and what makes them happy and comfortable. Checking  in with each other’s needs regularly while also  giving each other space and privacy, and be sure to keep an eye out for what  you can work on and what is toxic behaviors.

Conflict exists in all relationships. What do we mean by conflict? We specifically mean verbal disagreements and arguments. It is common for people to disagree sometimes and it is ok. You have the right to have a different opinion from the people you have relationships with, but it is the way those different opinions are dealt with and handled.  It is important to communicate effectively and in a healthy way that allows you to understand each other better and make your relationship stronger. To come from a healthy mindset to insure situations are handle properly and to avoid major blow outs is a very important part of navigating through relationships

When conflicts do arise, resolving arguments in a healthy way is paramount.

While conflict is normal, it can also bring out the parts of your relationship that aren’t working. If your conflict is based on decisions like which movie to see, who to hang out with, or who should do the dishes, use these tips to help resolve arguments in a healthy way:

Establish Boundaries

Find the real issue

Agree to disagree

Compromise when possible

Consider it all

The key is to learn the mindset and how to cultivate a healthy relationship. Contact me to learn how we can work together to achieve this goal.

Aside from honesty and open communication, it's also important to:

  • Establish boundaries.
  • Be an active listener.
  • Show the other person respect at all times.
  • Maintain a positive attitude.
  • Be open to constructive criticism and feedback without letting your emotions take over.
